JAMIE SMITH looks set to start today's SPL match with Falkirk after signing a new contract with the Dons yesterday.

Fans' favourite 'Jinky' has pledged himself to the Dons until 2009, and will be looking to start repaying the club with a good performance in another must-win game for the high-flying Reds.

Ahead of today's game, manager Jimmy Calderwood told RedWeb: "Obviously this is great news for the club and our fans as he is a real crowd pleaser.

"He is a special player as he can go past people and gives us something different in attack.

"He scores goals from which ever position we play him in and is a player with a good future ahead of him with AFC."

Jamie Winter is suffering from flu, but striker Steve Lovell has shaken off the bug and other pre-match doubts Richard Foster (hamstring) and Barry Nicholson (ankle) are expected to be fit.

Calderwood said: "With regards to injuries ahead of [the Falkirk] game everyone is fit and trained [on Friday] apart from Winter and Byrne."

THE THIRD round draw for the Tennent's Scottish Cup will take place shortly after the finish of Aberdeen's match with Falkirk, just after 5pm.

It will take place at Meadowbank Stadium, and one of the men making the draw is former Dons boss Alex Smith, the last man to take the trophy back to Pittodrie in 1990.

Aberdeen are listed at number 1 in the draw, something that Hearts would probably put in the 'Trophies Won' section of their official website.
