For the first time this season, Jimmy Calderwood will have a fully fit first team squad available for selection. Michael Hart, who began the season supperbly and is surely the Dons' most improved player this season, returned to training yesterday after a couple of weeks out with a hamstring problem. He was joined by Chris Clark who had one of his niggling injuries that has seen him make good friends with the physio over the last few years. Clark was missed massively in our last game against United, as his counter-attacking prowess would have been invaluable in the second half.
This makes for an interesting team selection on Saturday in the vital match against Kilmarnock. Will Jimmy stick with the side that had, in his own words, the worst second half performance of the season last Saturday? Or will he pick what in his mind is Aberdeen's best XI?
To confuse the poor man even further, Fernando Pasquinelli scored the only goal in Aberdeen reserves' win over Motherwell at Ochilview yesterday. His 14th minute strike gave the Reds' second string all three points in a close encounter with the Lanarkshire club's talented youngsters. Pasquinelli also had a one on one opportunity with the 'Well 'keeper which was cleared off the line. Budgie Stewart and Steven Craig also had opportunities in the game, in which the Dons team consisted of: Esson, Thomson, Donald, Tiernan, Considine, Buckley, Stewart, Adams, Pasquinelli, Craig and Muirhead.
So with all these treats available, which will Jimmy choose? It will be interesting to find out.
