Towering Czech striker Lubomir Blaha has yet to sign for Aberdeen despite agreeing to join until the end of the season. AFC are still waiting for the SFA and Czech Football Association to clear up the relevant red tape. An Aberdeen spokesman said: "We have been told we will have to do something by the end of the week otherwise he cannot sign."

Blaha returned to Aberdeen in the middle of last week to train with his proposed new team-mates, and RedWeb reported on Friday that the 26-year-old would be signed either today (Tuesday) or Wednesday this week. Boss Jimmy Calderwood told BBC Sport: "We know he is a free agent, but it is when he became one that is the moot point. The lad came back to Aberdeen and has agreed to sign a short term deal. This gives us an opportunity to have a look at him and for him to find out more about us. If he does well, there will be an option to extend his deal. We have been impressed with what we have seen so far and the lad has good experience as he has played in the Champions League."

Meanwhile, Dundee United midfielder Stuart Duff has rejected an offer of a new contract from the Arabs. The Dons target's representatives, Sportstar Promotions, have told BBC Sport that United's offer of an extended deal until May 2008 "is unacceptable". Negotiations with United will continue, but they also claim that there is interest from at least one other Scottish Premier League club, and it is no secret that Jimmy Calderwood has enquired about Duff previously.
