Danny Griffin will sign for Aberdeen next week on a pre-contract agreement if he passes a medical at Pittodrie. The 27-year-old midfielder joined Stockport in January 2004 from Dundee United but has been blighted with injuries in his time down South.
Griffin told bbc.co.uk: "Aberdeen have done really well this season and it is something I have to seriously consider. They are a big club and it would be a big chance for me, but we will have to see what happens. This season has been a real disappointment for me at Stockport and, to compound things, it looks like we will get relegated."
Sky Sports are reporting that Aberdeen have already agreed a deal for Griffin, and that he is set to get his contract paid up at Edgeley Park even though he has two years remaining on his current deal.
Most Dons fans will remember Griffin as being the possessor of a powerful shot, which was particularly effective from dead ball situations.
