Fernand-go

Big Fernando Pasquinelli looks unlikely to play for Aberdeen again, as he is likely to require an operation to rectify a persistent groin injury. With the Dons forward's contract expiring in the summer, any treatment requiring a lengthy recovery period would surely end his Aberdeen career. However, the Argentinian is being given injections this week to help a muscle tear heal which, if successful, could prevent the operation that would end his season.

Jimmy Calderwood said in the P&J: "Nobody wants an operation unless it's an acute injury, so you try these things. If the injection doesn't work, that could be him out for the season.

"The doctor seems quite confident it will work and Fernando, although he is disappointed to be out of action, seems quite upbeat. He just wants to get to the bottom of it."

24-year-old Pasquinelli not played since December and has scored three goals in his ten appearances this term, which is one more than Noel Whelan has mustered in fifteen games.
