Aus Trainers

ABERDEEN'S pre-season trip to a training camp in Obertraun, Austria is well underway — and the squad are preparing for their first pre-season fixture on Saturday.

Three trialists have joined the Dons first-team players in Austria — a Polish defender, a French centre-back and a German forward.

They currently remained un-named, but boss Mark McGhee said: “I think it’s only when we want to take them back with us or keep them a bit longer that we should speak about who they are.”

The pre-season training schedule has been well documented on AFC's official website RedWeb, and one thing notable in Mark McGhee's first days coaching the Dons is the focus on fitness.

After tough forest runs on Saturday, the players spent more time doing ball work and passing drills on Sunday before going back out in the evening for more running.

On Monday it was an early start for the defenders plus central midfielders Mark Kerr and Gary McDonald, as they were given their own training session working on defensive and technical drills. Everyone then did some football work followed by more running in the afternoon.

Today is the forwards and goalkeepers' turn for focused training, then later in the week the coaches' thoughts will turn to Saturday's first official summer friendly against German giants 1860 Munich.
