ABERDEEN'S latest goalscoring star Charlie Mulgrew is a doubt for Saturday's clash with Rangers.
The young full-back was stretchered off in the 28th minute of Scotland Under-21s' 3-0 victory over Lithuania last night.
Free-kick specialist Mulgrew, who opened his Dons goalscoring account last Saturday with a terriffic dead-ball strike, needed five stitches a cut above hid left eye after a clash of heads when challenging for the ball.
Dons doctors will assess Mulgrew on his return from Marijampole, but the good news is that he watched most of the rest of the game from the stand.
A Pittodrie spokesman said: "We won't know how badly injured Charlie is until we've had the chance to examine him properly.
"But we are hoping he will be able to play on Saturday."
Andrew Considine also played in the match, the result of which keepsScotland's slim hopes of qualification alive.
MEANWHILE, despite rumours to the contrary former Dons skipper Russell Anderson is highly unlikely to return to Pittodrie this month.
The cultured centre-half is set to stay in England even if he leaves Sunderland before the transfer window gently slides shut.
Burnley and Leeds United are favourites to land the international defender, who is set to exit the Stadium of Light ahead of the transfer deadline.
