Partick Thistle ended their run of disappointing results with a resounding 2-0 victory against a poor Aberdeen side.
Thistle took the game directly to Aberdeen and David Rowson had their first effort after only two minutes when his 25-yard shot flew just the wrong side of David Preece's goal.
Thistle continued to control the game and it was no surprise when they took the lead after only ten minutes when James Grady outpaced the Aberdeen defence and chipped Preece from all of 20 yards.
Aberdeen tried to claw their way back into the match but were unable to trouble Kenny Arthur in the Thistle goal.
However, this changed on 34 minutes when Scott Muirhead forced Arthur to tip over with a speculative 30-yard shot.
Aberdeen continued to press and two minutes later Paul Sheerin again made Arthur work with a 22-yard shot.
As half-time approached Aberdeen came more into the game and Muirhead almost equalised on 40 minutes, with Arthur's right heel stopping his 14-yard shot.
Half-time came at the wrong time for the Dons as Thistle started the second half as strongly as Aberdeen finished the first and Rowson and Jean-Yves Anis both had good chances to extend Thistle's lead, but were unable the find the target.
Debutant Adam Strachan played a throughball on 61 minutes to Grady whose 12-yard shot was well saved by Preece and Aberdeen were eventually able to clear the danger.
Thistle made sure of all three points on 80 minutes when Grady linked well with Jamie Mitchell, who burst into the Aberdeen penalty box, dummied Preece and had the simplest of tasks to roll the ball into the empty net.
By this time Aberdeen were unable to offer any attacking threat and in injury time, Grady almost made it three, but his eight-yard shot rebounded back off the base of the right-hand post.
Thistle played out the last couple of minutes to earn a well deserved three points.
Thistle's players will be delighted with an unusual win bonus and Aberdeen will be looking for the campaign to finish to allow them to regroup for next season.
