Hearts are a club in crisis as the players demand showdown talks with owner Vladimar Romanov over accusations that he is picking the team.
Hearts brought in 11 new players in the transfer window and it seems that Romanov is insisting that Graham Rix selects the new faces ahead of the established players.
On the back of a midweek draw at Dundee United, Hearts slumped to defeat against the Dons as the title looks certain to go to Celtic.
The home side started well and young Calum Elliot flicked home his fifth goal of the season from Rudi Skacel's cut-back but after that Hearts switched off as the Dons were by far the better side.
Scotland keeper Craig Gordon made outstanding saves from Barry Nicholson's free-kick and Jamie Smith's brilliant lob.
Gordon then threw himself to his left to block Danny Griffin's free-kick and somehow Russell Anderson managed to stab the rebound wide from six yards.
But after the break Aberdeen got their reward when Hearts skipper Steven Pressley turned Scott Severin's cross into his own net before the Dons got a touch of good fortune to grab all three points with only two minutes left.
Substitute Ferne Snoyl produced a great burst down the right and his cut-back fell to Chris Clark on the edge of the box. Clark's effort was on target but took a wicked deflection off Paul Hartley to leave Gordon helpless.
