ABERDEEN beat Dundee 1-0 in a closed-doors at Glebe Park this afternoon, with trialist Maurice Ross completing 90 minutes before his expected short-term deal is inked later this week.

The Dons fielded a strong squad, but despite £100k striker Tommy Wright and the immutable Darren Mackie featuring up front, it was one of Mark McGhee's young prodigies Mitch Megginson who came off the bench to score the winning goal.

As well as the two 'strikers' up front and Ross at right back, other first-teamers involved were Chris Maguire, Sone Aluko and Derek Young – who played opposite his brother Darren in centre midfield.

The goal came two minutes from the end when Aluko set up Megginson, who showed great composure inside the area to slot low past former Dons keeper Derek Soutar.

After the match Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee confirmed he hopes to conclude a deal for Maurice Ross in the coming days.
