Aberdeen got off to the perfect start when after only six minutes a Paul Sheerin free-kick was flighted right onto the head of the unmarked Scott Booth who tucked away his first goal since returning to the club in the close season.
Questions will have to be asked of the Thistle defence and also of goalkeeper Jakup Mikkelsen who came but got nowhere near the crossed ball.
Thistle were dealt another blow on 13 minutes when former Dons defender Derek White was forced to leave the field injured and he was replaced Jean-Yves Anis.
Aberdeen went close to extending their lead when Sheerin picked up a loose ball on the edge of the area but pulled his shot wide of the target.
Partick's first real opportunity came on 29 minutes when following a series of corners the ball bobbled around the box before James Grady hooked the ball over his head and wide of the upright with David Preece struggling.
The Dons' Markus Heikkinen almost got his first goal for the club when he picked up a pass from David Zdrilic on the edge of the area but his right foot shot was well held by Mikkelsen.
At the other end Kenny Milne was unlucky to see a hooked shot from around 12 yards dip narrowly over the crossbar.
Right on half-time the home side again tested the Jags keeper when Zdrilic's blocked shot fell into the path of Sheerin, whose first time effort from 18 yards was brilliantly saved by the Faroe Islands international.
Aberdeen should have got a second goal immediately upon the restart when Steve Tosh released Booth down the right. His throughball was picked up by Zdrilic, who side-stepped his marker before firing in a deflected shot that Milne collected on his line.
This was to prove costly when in the 52nd minute Thistle levelled the match. A flick-on from Gerard Britton was missed by Michael Hart and it was Jamie Mitchell who was on hand to prod the ball beyond Preece into the corner of the net.
Partick were denied the lead on 70 minutes when Milne took a lay off from a Thistle free-kick and his fierce low drive was brilliantly turned around the foot of his post by Preece.
Fifteen minutes from time the Dons regained the lead when a Tosh corner was played back to him by Hart and at the second attempt his cross found the head of Russell Anderson who made no mistake from five yards for his second goal in two games.
