Zander Furious At Ref

DISCONSOLATE defender Zander Diamond believes Aberdeen were victims of injustice in the Scottish Cup semi-final loss to Celtic at Hampden Park.

Referee Willie Collum sent off Diamond's central defensive partner Andrew Considine after 18 minutes for a challenge on Gary Hooper in the Dons penalty area. Anthony Stokes saw the resulting spot-kick saved by Jamie Langfield before the Bhoys claimed a 4-0 triumph.

Diamond told the club's official website, afc.co.uk: "We've watched it numerous times. It's a big call, a big decision to be made and he's got it wrong."

He added: "We went down to 10 men, luckily enough Jamie saved us and we hung on to half-time.

"It was just a case of hanging in there as long as we could and Celtic punished us."

Diamond was rueful after a strong start from the Dons, who lost 4-1 in the Co-operative Insurance Cup semi-final to Celtic at the end of January.

He added: "We got through the first 15 minutes, we were playing the ball on the deck and getting in behind them. The penalty changed the outcome.

"It's a hard shift out there with 11. When you've got 10 men it's even harder. It will rankle with us for a few weeks. Four goals flattered them in the end."

Midfielder Derek Young was also unhappy with the decision.

He said: "You can see quite clearly Andy pulled out of it."
