The official Go Ahead Eagles website relayed the news that the rearranged Friday game would not 'go ahead' to supporters today, and this has since been confirmed by Aberdeen's official website RedWeb.
The Dutch team's website said (via a free translation website): "The friendly competition that Go Ahead Eagles this weekend would play against Aberdeen FC is definitive of the job.
"After yesterday the municipality Deventer had the duel to elfder hour bans, Go Ahead Eagles the duel a day wanted to finish to can before in Terwolde.
"SV Terwolde and Aberdeen were agreement, but the municipality Firstly has decided after the making of a risk analysis to give no permission for this competition."
Supporters of either club who have paid upfront will be able to get a refund, although it is unlikely any compensation will be given to fans who travelled specifically for that game.
The official GAE site continues: "Who already a card has bought for Go Ahead Eagles-Aberdeen gets against delivery of the card its or her money back.
"The card can be handed in during the Open Day at the stadium cash register or on working days (during office hours) till and with 14 August next on the administration of Go Ahead Eagles."
The cancellation means that the Dons will avoid having to play three games in three nights.
