Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood has confirmed that he will not be signing Swedish striker Andreas Haddad. The 23-year-old Assyriska striker was outshone in the hastily arranged friendly against Dundee this week by 16-year-old Dons starlet Chris Macguire and transfer listed Steven Craig.
Fellow striker Paul Robinson also played for the Dons as a trialist in that game, and the 26-year-old was also rejected, leading him to consider his future in the game. Robinson, who played for the other 'Dons', Wimbledon, told the Press & Journal: "I played the game and probably didn't do as well as I could have. I spoke to Jimmy (Calderwood) and I know where I stand. I've become a bit disillusioned with football in the past few years - I don't know if I really want to play."
Robinson, who was with York City last season, this month rejected terms with Ross County after a successful trial with the First Division club. He also famously chose the twin with the wonky mouth in Neighbours, Christina, ahead of her bonnier sister, Caroline. Haddad, a 23-year-old thought to be available for a nominal fee from Assyriska in his native country, was substituted against Dundee after being injured. Haddad also sounds a bit like "Haddy", which is the surname of the woman who played Helen Daniels in Neighbours. Sadly, Ann Haddy died in 1997.
