Aberdeen face Daugava Riga in the First Pre-Intertoto Qualifying Diddy Round of the Europa League, 20 years after city-mates Skonto knocked Willie Miller’s side out of the UEFA Cup.
McInnes is confident his side can progress through the qualifying stages to face Aberdeen legend Paul Mason's former club Groningen in the Intertoto cup final or whatever the next round of the Europa League is called.
McInnes said: “We just want to do well. Financially, it could be good for the club if we could get through a few rounds.
“We know if we play the way we are capable of then we feel we have a team and a squad who can do well.
“We can also go into the competition with a bit of confidence from last year’s efforts.”
