Taking Tosher To Tynecastle
The former Pittodrie favourite was told he is surplus to requirements at Gretna despite sitting near the top of the First Division leading scorers with nine goals from midfield.
The colourful midfielder has urged Dons supporters not to read anything into his potential presence in the travelling party and insists he will be there merely to cheer the team on.
'Tosher' enjoyed a fair few battles with Hearts over the years, including being sent off at Pittodrie in a game marred by disgraceful refereeing, and drawing with the Tynecastle club in last season's Scottish Cup final.
On being told he could leave Gretna, the 33-year-old immediately turned to Dons boss Jimmy Calderwood for advice.
Tosh told the Press & Journal: "Jimmy was one of the first people I spoke to when Gretna gave me the news, which was a bolt from the blue.
"He's one of the people I respect most in the game and I value his advice.
I would walk back to Aberdeen in a second, but the club has moved on since I left and I don't think that will be happening.
"I still keep in touch with the players at Pittodrie and I have spoken to Russell Anderson about my situation.
"He has invited me to Tynecastle for Aberdeen's game against Hearts on Saturday.
"I know the supporters will put two and two together, but I'll only be there to cheer on my old team-mates, there's nothing more to it than that."
ABERDEEN'S Tennent's Scottish Cup 3rd round clash with Hibs will be broadcast live by the BBC and will now go ahead on Wednesday 10th January 2007, with a 7.45 pm kick-off.
