Another superb support packed in to Christie Park and saw the Dons take the lead after just three minutes when Chris Clark crossed for McGinn to net with a header.
The Northern Irishman, who has signed a new deal at Pittodrie, doubled the lead midway through the half after good work by Peter Pawlett.
Vernon raced on to a ball over the top to fire home six minutes before the break and Niall McGinn got his hat-trick in 59 minutes with a stunning left-foot shot.
Huntly’s consolation came a minute later when Marek Madle was upended in the box and Guild delighted the 1800 crowd by scoring the penalty.
Aberdeen gaffer Derek McInnes said: “I was pleased with the overall performance but it is always important to get your strikers on the scoresheet in pre-season so for Niall and Scott to score was terrific.
“We also had Josh Magennis on target on Tuesday against Buckie so that’s satisfying.”
But the day was about Russell Guild, and he told the Daily Record: "Before the game some of the guys said if we got a penalty I’d have to take it and I’m not one for that.
"I’ve only taken one before so I’m glad Jamie Langfield was kind enough to dive the wrong way.
"[Aberdeen] have made some great signings and Niall McGinn’s finishing was first class.
"I’d like to thank Derek and the lads for helping make it such a special day for me."
