NEW signing Steven Smith is determined to repay Aberdeen manager Craig Brown for rescuing him from his unhappy spell at Norwich.
The former Rangers left-back could make his Aberdeen debut against Clydesdale Bank Premier League leaders Celtic following his transfer deadline-day loan switch.
Smith told RedTV: ""I was desperate to get back to Scotland to play football. I`m just glad someone gave me the opportunity and I will hopefully repay them."
He added: "The first game in pre-season I got an ankle injury.
"Then I came back and played seven or eight games in a row. I played a few games but there were other reasons for not wanting to be there, to be honest.
"I just want to play, enjoy it and I`m really looking forward to the challenges ahead.
"People sometimes have bad things to say about the SPL but I have played here and had the chance to play in England and I wouldn't have a bad word said about this league.
"It`s a tough league and it`s one you enjoy playing in."
Brown will assess Smith`s fitness before deciding whether to pick him against Celtic.
"I`m hopeful but I will see what the manager says," Smith said. "I`m raring to go."
