Players Deserve Credit

DONS boss Craig Brown praised the effort and application of his Aberdeen players after claiming victory in his first match in charge with a 2-1 win at Hibernian.

After Derek Riordan scored his fifth in four games on the stroke of half-time to cancel out Yoann Folly's opener for the Dons, Scott Vernon bundled in a Paul Hartley cross which evaded a static Hibs defence after 62 minutes for the winner.

The goal ended a run of six straight losses. The result, the Dons' first win since defeating Hibs 4-2 on October 23, took Brown's side three points clear of Tuesday's opponents Hamilton at the bottom of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League and within two points of free-falling Hibs.

Brown said: "You see real determination about every player.

"They were getting tackles in, marking tightly, they were committed to headers - it's what you want from a team.

"We hope we can maintain that standard of commitment."
