The talented forward has had a stuttering career with Aberdeen due in large part to several injuries, and is currently on loan to SPL side St Johnstone.
Pawlett starred in the Perth side's 2-2 draw with Hearts on Saturday, with an assist capping a game where he terrorised the Jambos' defence from start to finish.
And with youngster Ryan Fraser rejecting a new contract at Pittodrie, Pawlett - who has committed to AFC until summer 2014 - smells his chance to prove to Craig Brown that he can be a top player at the Dons.
Scotland Under-21 international Pawlett said: "Ryan Fraser plays in my position, but hopefully Aberdeen can see the bigger picture.
"I am contracted to them for next season and I want to play week in, week out.
"I will just have to work harder as I am not going to accept sitting on the bench. I will work my socks off."
