No Knee Op For Russ

It is being reported that Aberdeen have confirmed that team captain Russell Anderson will not require surgery on the knee he injured last week.

Cadger suffered medial ligament damage during last Sunday's 2-0 defeat by Celtic and it was already known that he would miss the last two games of the season. There had been fears that the Scotland defender could face his third knee operation in five years. But manager Jimmy Calderwood expects the Scotland defender to be fit in time for the start of pre-season training. Russell had just returned to the Aberdeen team following a face injury picked up against Inverness Caley Thistle.

It has previously been confirmed that utility player Kevin McNaughton might only miss one of the two remaining games of the season after being injured in the same game. Jimmy had feared that Super Kev could be missing for up to six weeks with ligament damage, but it now seems likely that the midfield enigma could face Hearts in the potential UEFA decider a week on Sunday.
