FORMER Motherwell coach Colin Meldrum has become part of new Dons boss Mark McGhee's backroom staff.
Meldrum replaces club legend Jim Leighton because McGhee feels he needs a goalkeeping coach who has more diverse skills.
McGhee had decided upon either Meldrum or PSV Eindhoven's Hans Segers, but the Fir Park club have today confirmed that 33-year-old Meldrum has left to take up a similar post at Pittodrie.
Meldrum made 27 appearances for 'Well before becoming a full-time goalkeeping coach in late 2007, and worked under McGhee while he was Motherwell gaffer.
Meldrum told the Motherwell website: "I've been at Motherwell for four years now and I've thoroughly enjoyed my time here.
"It's a good club, a family club, and I'll miss the place, but I think it is time for me to move on and Aberdeen was a good option for me.
"I've left on good terms, though, and I want to wish everyone at Motherwell every success in the future."
