FOUR Aberdeen youngsters started Scotland's Under-17 International Challenge Match versus Germany last night, with one more coming off the bench.
The Scots lost a tight match against a strong German side 1-0 at Livingston's Almondvale Stadium.
Dons starlet Mitchel Megginson stood out in the first half, and had two notable chances - a volley which flew by the post, and another shot which screwed just wide.
Coach Ross Mathie said: "It was a great exercise for our young players to prepare for the UEFA Elite Round in Austria against an excellent German side.
"They will host the Under 17 Finals in May and are favourites to win the trophy.
"It is always disappointing to lose any match but we had one or two good individual performances and the experience will hold the team in good stead for the forthcoming Elite Round."
