The Dons host the Sons in the Scottish Cup quarters after beating Celtic in Parkhead in the previous round, with Peter Pawlett’s winning strike taking Goal of the Round.
And with the other cup’s showpiece looming, McInnes is aware that some players and fans could be distracted - but has faith that his charges are able to put it out of their minds and get the job done at Pittodrie on Saturday.
He said: “It's a quarter-final of a Scottish Cup and they don't come around that often. That's why we need to be focused on the job in hand.
"It's not been difficult to concentrate on the Dumbarton game. I'm well aware of the importance of what is coming up. Around the city, there's a lot of talk about the cup final and rightly so.
"But we are the professionals of the club and our focus has to be on Dumbarton on Saturday and that is the case."
