"It was total dominance from us in the first half," said McInnes. "Hearts did have a 15-minute spell in the second half where they showed what they are capable of and, just as the game was running out, we went with two strikers to try to unnerve them.
"Although young Jordan made a mistake and you feel for him because he played well, I think Goodwillie’s presence there maybe just spooked him a wee bit.
"We showed the maturity to keep going and we did dig deep.
"You have to fight your corner at times and maybe the main reason we weren’t winning games was because we were being dominated and bullied at times.
"We have shown a determination not to let that be the case in the last two and-a-half games and we stood up for ourselves. I have no problems about the nature of the game.
“I thought we were the better team for the majority of the game."
