The Dons boss failed in his public attempt to sign Kris Boyd, with the ambitious striker choosing lower-league club The Rangers 5088 ahead of top-league AFC.
But with the Dons smashing seven goals past Arbroath on Saturday, McInnes is happy to be patient in their search for a replacement for Scott Vernon.
He said: "It's no secret we're still trying to bring one or two in, we're a bit short up front.
"We've let three [strikers] move on; replacements are needed there so we'll certainly try to get one or two in if we can, ideally for the European game.
“But, for us it's a long season, it's more important that we get the right one in.
"We're trying to bring players to the club that can improve us, help us challenge on all fronts domestically and in Europe."
