NEW Dons boss Mark McGhee has urged all Dons fans who are not on holiday to get down to Pittodrie and help the team on Thursday.
Aberdeen face Czech unknowns Sigma Olomouc and McGhee is expecting a very tough game — and feels the fans could make all the difference to the outcome.
The match takes place this Thursday, 30th July with a 7:45pm kick-off time.
McGhee told RedWeb: "The game itself does not hold the excitement that maybe an Atletico Madrid or Bayern Munich had, but that makes it all the harder because expectation is there.
"I feel this is a game where the fans are crucial, far more even than if we were to get through and play the likes of Valencia, because those type of games, the atmosphere is automatically there."
The game is Aberdeen's first home Euro tie since that fabulous night last February when the Dons played some astonishing football with a depleted squad to unluckily draw 2-2 with German giants Bayern Munich.
Aberdeen were unbeaten at home in that 2007/08 UEFA Cup run; a record that McGhee will be desperate to continue.
But he knows that he will be helped by a bumper crowd and a noisy Euro atmosphere — just like the team were in the Calderwood era.
"The fans will hopefully be a major part of it on Thursday," said McGhee. "It is a good team we are playing and we need as much help as we can.
"The supporters mustn't come here simply expecting us to win. They must come here to help us beat Sigma. I hope as many people as possible are going to be coming as can possibly make it.
"Those who aren't on holiday, don't wait for the next round. We need your help now!"
Tickets for the game are available now priced at normal SPL rates - between £17 and £27 - and can be purchased in person from the ticket office, by phone (01224 63 1903) or online at www.afc.co.uk/eTickets
