HIGHLY-RATED Dons star Chris Maguire has rejected the club's latest contract offer.
The 22-year-old is out of contract at Pittodrie in the summer and could leave on a free transfer.
Maguire, who has been named in the Scotland squad to face Brazil on Sunday, has had a superb season with the Dons considering the club's overall poor performance.
And the Dons youth system product became a worldwide sensation when he scored from the half-way line for Scotland Under-21s at Easter Road last year.
These factors have meant that a number of clubs up and down the country are now poised to sign Maguire at the end of the current season.
Maguire's agent, who is not a slimey money-grabber hell-bent on receiving his cut of a potential signing-on fee and is simply looking after the best interests of his client, told skysports.com: "Chris has rejected Aberdeen's latest contract offer as it stands.
"Chris fully understands the current economics in Scottish football, but he feels the offer does not match what he feels he deserves.
"Chris has been at Aberdeen for ten years and maybe the time is right for a new challenge.
"I am talking to a number of clubs about Chris and we will decide what is the best option for him."
Aberdeen boss Craig Brown is thought to be preparing for Bebo's departure, and this week expressed an interest in Brechin City's free-scoring striker Rory McAllister, but emphasised that no contact has yet been made.
Brown told BBC Scotland: "Like many other clubs, we are looking at him and we're watching him play and obviously I will see him against St Johnstone again.
"Quite clearly, we have his name and a number of strikers.
"It would be dishonest to say we are not interested, but it is also dishonest to say that we've signed him or we have spoken to him."
