ABERDEEN boss Mark McGhee has confirmed on-loan Plymouth Argyle striker Steven MacLean will not be returning to Aberdeen this summer.
Dons boss McGhee had been keen to make the Argyle forward's three-and-a-half-month loan move permanent.
However, with a squad revolution required this summer, McGhee has decided that MacLean is not worth the chunk of his rebuilding budget it would require to take the striker to Pittodrie.
He said: "We've now accepted the fact Steven won't be back.
"It's a shame because Aberdeen FC fans never really got the chance to see Steven at his best while he was on loan to us."
