The Dons hold a commanding lead over Inverness ahead of the clash with treble-chasing Dundee Utd on Saturday.
However, McInnes isn't taking anything for granted and has reminded his players of how they failed to take second place from a similarly strong position last season.
Motherwell snatched second spot away from Aberdeen on the final day of the Premiership season last year, although McInnes cited the Dons' poor form down the home straight as reason for their collapse.
"Our form in the last 10 games didn’t replicate our form throughout the season before that," he said.
"I think we only won three games from those 10, and a few draws, which impacted on us. Us not being second was dictated by a poor refereeing decision, and that’s a fact.
"But our form wasn’t convincing in the last 10 games as much as it had been. We’re well aware of the need to finish the season strong."
