ABERDEEN boss Craig Brown is reported to be interested in making full-back David McNamee his first Dons signing.
Brown had been interested in taking the 30-year-old former Livingston defender to Motherwell, and the player had been training at Fir Park while out of contract.
A huge criticism of former Dons manager Mark McGhee's tenure was that he failed to bring in any full-backs while letting Charlie Mulgrew, Ricky Foster and Stirling Smith leave the club.
McNamee's arrival would mean new boss Brown could stop relying on out-of-position centre-backs and midfielders in the wide defensive roles.
McNamee started his career at St Mirren in 1997 and signed for Blackburn Rovers two years later. However, he failed to break into the first team and joined Livingston in 2002.
During that time he featured twice as a substitute against Bulgaria and Japan in Scotland's Kirin Cup win in 2006.
The full-back then had spells at Coventry City and Plymouth Argyle before being released last summer.
