Markus told the RedMatchday Magazine: "It is a very exciting final game to have to play in, because it would be a big achievement for this club if we could reach European football for next season. That is the biggest thing in my head at the moment, rather than any thoughts of it being a final game for me. Of course, we are still pretty far away from achieving that goal, a lot of things need to happen for us to finish in third place at the end of the day, but firstly we must try to win the game and hope that that will be enough. "But of course, at the end of the game, it will be a sad day in some ways because it is my last game here and I have made good friends and have some good memories of playing for the club. But it is time for me to try to do something else with my career."
Markus is also keen to dispel the rumours of him failing to settle in Aberdeen that surrounded him last summer and the out-of-context comments that have tarnished some fans view of him. "Finland does not have a very big football structure, so if you want to be a professional, you must play abroad. When you don't play in your home country, then it is natural to want to see what life and football is like in a number of other different places. I think that this way, you learn things as a footballer and as a person and it is a valuable part of life. When you are with the club, then you must always do your best for that club, but when you have come from another country, it is always likely that you will not be there forever!"
