Hat-Trick Hartley Has Dons Off To A Flier

Last updated : 15 August 2010 By Stand Free Ed

NEW Aberdeen captain Paul Hartley had a triple-dream debut as he scored a hat-trick of penalties in his first competitive game in a Dons shirt.

Sone Aluko was also back to his brilliant best, and it was he who won the first two spot kicks as he terrorised the hapless Hamilton defenders.

In the 18th minute Aluko ran at Hamilton and was tripped in the box; Hartley stepping up to confidently stroke home the penalty.

As half-time was approaching, Aluko won a second spot kick when he was clearly pulled back by Ross after great play from Chris 'Bebo' Maguire.

Five minutes after the break, Aluko won a corner and vice captain Zander Diamond added a third. Hartley then completed his hat-trick in the 65th minute when Maguire was brought down for a third penalty, making it a scarcely believable 4-0 to the Dons.

Aberdeen could have had more, with new signing Josh Magennis hitting the bar after some superb wing-play by Andrew 'Maiconso' Considine.
