Hart Ache Almost Over
Another John 'Budgie' Stewart brace gave Sandy Clark's charges a 2-0 win over their Highland counterparts in the game, but most important news given the Dons troubled defence this season is that Hart managed more than three-quarters of the game following his recent operation.
Hart broke down before half-time in his previous comeback match against Keith, but showed no problems when he returned to training late last week and returned successfully to competitive action yesterday.
This may not be enough to see him quickly returning to first-team action however, as Jimmy Calderwood told RedWeb last week: "Michael has looked good in training but I want him to get 90 minutes under his belt before getting him involved at first team level."
However, he added: "if Michael comes through the reserve match then we will be almost back to full strength again."
In the game itself, the Dons took the lead in 15 minutes when Kyle Macaulay played a through ball to Steve Lovell whose cutback was slammed into the net by Budgie.
Stewart spurned the chance to grab what would have been a hat-trick when he missed a penalty after 18 minutes.
However with a couple of minutes of the contest remaining, the second string made sure of the points when a Ricky Foster cross from the right was headed home by Budgie, whose performance with Steve Lovell up front will give the management team something to think about in the build-up to Aberdeen's crucial fixture with Hibs on Saturday.
Aberdeen: Langfield, Hart (Thomson 76), Byrne, Winter, Considine, Skinner, Kiely (Bagshaw 60), Macaulay, Lovell, Stewart, Foster.
