The Merseyside club secured the services of the Welsh youth international from Wrexham back in January 2012, after the youngster had earned rave reviews there.
Ward was named on the bench 19 times last season for Liverpool, before sealing a loan move to League Two side Morecambe in March to gain further first-team experience.
The young goalkeeper would have hoped to return to Anfield to find some more minutes, but instead Liverpool signed Adam Bogdan from Bolton Wanderers and Ward was sent on a season-long loan to Aberdeen.
Flood, who used to play for Manchester City, admits he has already been taken aback by Ward’s performances.
The Irishman said: “For me, he’s the best I’ve played with. When I was at Manchester City there was David James and Nicky Weaver, who were top goalkeepers.
“But Wardy, for his age, his stature, everything about him. He’s up there with the best. He has all the makings of a Premier League player in England. We’re just happy we have him for the season.
“He’s very confident but you’d expect that because he’s come from a top club. You don’t sign four-year deals with Liverpool if you’re a shy lad.”
Ward signed a new five-year contract at Liverpool back in June, which highlights the high esteem manager Brendan Rodgers still holds him in, despite the signing of 27-year-old Bogdan as back-up to regular No.1 Simon Mignolet.
