The 22-year-old forward will join the Dons from Dender FC in Nigeria, subject to a 'loan fee' being agreed, after impressing in trials at Pittodrie this week.
It is reported that the Dons will have the option of making the deal permanent for £160,000 at the end of the season - which simply won't be an option for AFC in the current financial climate.
Adedapo Kujore-Olowu, who represents the player, told KickOffNigeria.com: "He will join them on loan until the end of the season, initially until the end of the season, but we are still sorting out the final details."
Uchechi, who has represented Nigeria at Under-20 and Under-23 level, began his career with Charlton Athletic and was also on the books of West Ham but was most recently on loan to Sheffield Wednesday.
He left Upton Park for Dender in his homeland but was farmed out to Leicester City then the Owls.
This signing will bring the number of strikers at Aberdeen to eight, with Rory Fallon, Scott Vernon, Darren Mackie, Mitch Megginson, Michael Paton, Josh Magennis and Mo Chalali already on the first-team books - which perhaps suggests that a striker is not the priority just now.
