ALEC Young, who wrote his name into the history books as part of the Dons' team who secured their first championship success in 1955., has died at the age of 84.
Young made 168 appearances for Aberdeen between 1950-58 and was one of the founding inductees into the club's hall of fame in 2004.
An Aberdeen spokesman said: "It was with great sadness that the club learned of the passing of former player Alec Young.
"Alec is a major part of AFC history as he played a pivotal role in the Dons' first championship success in 1955."
Aberdeen-Mad's condolences go to Alec's wife, daughter Vicky and family.
