ABERDEEN stay top of the SPL after a deserved victory in Perth this afternoon thanks to a trademark sclaff from supersub Darren Mackie.
Mackie pounced four minutes from full-time after great play from Sone Aluko to chase down a lost cause, keep the ball in play on the touchline and play a great cross to the Dazzler.
In an even first half, the Dons still could have taken the lead when Andrew Considine had the ball in the net only to see it chalked off by referee McLean.
Aberdeen were the better side in the second 45 minutes and were denied a penalty when Bebo Maguire was tripped, but the Dons were finally rewarded in the 86th minute when Aluko created the winner for Mackie.
Aberdeen now top the SPL with six points out of six, but even more promising was the midfield performance which is night and day from last season.
Dons boss Mark McGhee said: "The defence were brilliant and the goalkeeper was excellent but we defended as a team.
"We've picked up three points that we think are thoroughly deserved."
