Dons Move On In Full Back Search
Aberdeen-Mad reported at the beginning of the month that Hammell would sign for the Dons but warned that the player's agent could yet stand in the way.
Sadly this appears to be the case, with Hammell's representative Catherine Robertson finally finding an English lower-league club that will see her paid a larger cut of the player's signing-on fee this week.
The Aberdeen Legend and Director of Football Miller spent most of yesterday trying to get in contact with Robertson to no avail.
He and Dons boss Jimmy Calderwood are now concentrating their efforts on Plan C following both Hammell's and former target David McNamee's decisions to head down south.
Miller told the Evening Express: "It's not that much of a blow because you only ever want players who want to play for Aberdeen.
"If Steven doesn't want to play for the club that's fine, but it was only ever a case of him telling me.
"There are other players out there we are interested in."
Calderwood added: "There comes a stage when you have to say: that is enough.
"The offer was there, it won't change, but it has taken too long.
"We had been patient but that's us finished with it now."
Calderwood confirmed he is now actively pursuing another left-back and hopes that this deal will not become a long drawn-out affair that only frustrates the club and fans.
