The young Magyars were cruising to a 1-0 win when Shankland fired two goals in the final five minutes to give Scotland the impressive away win.
The former Queens Park forward replaced Morton's on-loan Dons striker Declan McManus at half time to fire Danny Lennon's side to victory with two late headers.
The first came from fellow sub Cammy Smith's cross as two of the top four scorers in the SPFL Development League, with 35 goals between them, showed why they are such a deadly partnership.
Both Smith and Shankland were making their U21 international debuts in the match, and the pair were lauded by their Pittodrie team-mates on Twitter after the match:
