Dons' Injury And Trialist Update

Swedish striker Andreas Haddad will play in a friendly with Dundee at Dens Park tonight. The 23-year-old Assyriska hitman will join fellow forward Steve Lovell and full-backs Michael Hart and Richie Byrne in the closed-door encounter as the latter three recover from the injuries that left them on the sidelines at the weekend. All three are likely to feature in the Dons' first home game of the season against Kilmarnock on the crisp new turf at Pittodrie if they come through tonight's game.

Jimmy Calderwood told the Press & Journal: "Andreas did well in training with the youth team players on Monday and we have a few days to have a look at him in training and in the game at Dens Park. We will have to wait and see how he goes, as there would be a small fee for him. We do have other options, so we will have to wait to see how things develop."

However, the prospects of last season's leading scorer Darren Mackie playing alongside Lovell this weekend do not look encouraging as he continues his recovery from an Achilles injury. Mackie is more likely to continue having treatment in order to be fit for the home game against rangers a week on Sunday, live on Setanta.

Meanwhile, as reported here on Aberdeen-MAD over two weeks ago, Scott Severin will head to Paris to see a specialist about his groin injury. He is still likely to feature in the weekend's fixture against Killie after his outstanding performance at Tannadice last Saturday.
