The visitors were on top for most of the ninety minutes and led at the break through a close range shot from ex-Motherwell man Craig midway through the half. Craig has been involved in a few goals for the reserves in the last few weeks, scoring twice himself in the last month, and he will have to be asking himself why he left it so late to bring himself to the Jimmys' attention. The Dons doubled their advantage twenty minutes into the second period when a Kyle Macaulay corner was headed home by McGuire.
This result on the final day of the SPL reserve league programme means the Dons season ended on a high, and they are certain to finish in the top 4 of the league. With such a small squad, Aberdeen can be happy with this, but it is good to see that the club have not stood still and with the introduction of Sandy Clark provoking a backroom shake-up, it will be no surprise to see the Dons building upon their performance in the reserve league next year.
The Dons team consisted of: Preece, Donald, Morrison, Macaulay, McGuire (Thomas 70), O'Leary, Craig, Dempsey (Bagshaw 60), Adams (Maguire 60), Stewart, McInnes. Subs not used : Kelly, Neill.
