The Dons started last season with eight straight wins and while there has been no barnstorming start this time, Docherty is unconcerned.
"We had a great start last year,” Docherty added. "We actually have more points now than we did at this stage the season before but we still finished runners-up then.
"It is a long campaign. We were unbeaten until the Celtic game and we had a relatively successful European campaign.
"It was a difficult game at Celtic Park but for large periods we were toe to toe with them until we lost a player and conceded a penalty in the 87th minute.
"It was never a 4-1 for me. I would say we are in good form at the minute."
