Derek and Deila disagree on title race

Derek McInnes says Aberdeen will not win the Scottish Premiership, despite being just five points off leaders Celtic - while Celtic manager Ronny Deila says the race for the title is far from over.

The Dons closed the gap at the top with a 2-1 win over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park while Celtic dropped points in a 1-1 draw with Inverness.

Dons manager McInnes does not feel his team will present a title challenge to Celtic, who have played a game fewer than Aberdeen and remain strong favourites for the silverware.

"We did not even mention the Celtic result before the game," he said. "Okay we have gained a couple of points on the two teams closest to us but Celtic are not going to lose the league now.

"They are very strong and have never showed any form that would suggest they will throw it away.

"We have been very good since the back end of October and are just delighted we have got to 68 points, the same tally as we had last season.

"To have reached that with six games to go is testament to how well and how hard the players have worked.

"We are getting better and stronger as we go along and getting further away from the rest. That pleases me no end."

Celtic appeared to be out of sight in the title race after the 4-0 win over the Dons, but a defeat to St Johnstone and the draw with Inverness has given the Reds hope.

And Deila is taking nothing for granted and dismissed talk that Celtic were uncatchable in the league race.

"It is very easy to think that when you win a lot of games in a row," the Celtic manager said.

"But there is so much preparation needed before every game to be ready and if you don't do that properly you get games like [the draw against Inverness].

"Nothing is done yet. We have to take one game at a time and be very prepared for every one of them.

"We know we have the quality to achieve what we want, but it's still very hard."
