GOTHENBURG great Neale Cooper believes his old mate Mark McGhee will be a success managing Aberdeen — because he'll work the players hard.
New Aberdeen boss McGhee is following up the Dons' Austrian trip with the journey north tomorrow night for a pre-season friendly with Cooper's Peterhead.
And former Dons midfield general Cooper, who played 132 times for the club, says that the way they he and McGhee were pushed on the training pitch as players will be key to his success managing the current Dons squad.
He said: "Mark knows the history of Aberdeen and has the experience of managing big clubs. So I have no doubt he'll do a fine job at Pittodrie.
"He did excellently at Motherwell with the resources he had to work with, and I'm sure the Aberdeen players will really enjoy working with him.
"From what I've been reading he's been working them hard in pre-season training and that's no surprise, because that's the way we were taught."
