DONS gaffer Craig Brown has confirmed he hopes to recruit Blackburn forward Nick Blackman and Morecambe full-back Tony Capaldi for Aberdeen, but admits midfield is an area which needs urgent attention.
Brown signed Blackman on loan for Motherwell, but with the striker's spell at Fir Park now over, he could switch to Pittodrie and link up with his former boss.
Capaldi, meanwhile, has been training with the Dons but is on a short-term deal with League Two Morecambe until January 17 and is set to play for the Shrimps this weekend.
But after Yoann Folly suffered a fractured leg against Dundee United, Brown hopes to sign a midfielder before Saturday's Scottish Cup fourth round clash with East Fife.
Manager Brown told Aberdeen's official website, RedWeb: "We urgently need midfield reinforcements and we'll be setting about that in the next few days.
"We were making numerous phone calls today and they'll continue in the hope we can get someone with quality hopefully to join us in time for the cup on Saturday but certainly in time for the next league game a week on Saturday."
