In fact, Clangers reckons ending up best of the rest would be just as big a cause for celebration as the League Cup final win last month.
The keeper helped the Dons put clear air between themselves and Motherwell with hard-fought draw on Saturday, and victory over Hearts this week would make the Reds clear favourites to snatch second spot.
And Langfield reckons the battle for runner-up in the league is not the 'tallest dwarf' competition that some make out.
He said: "Finishing second would be massive for every team outside Celtic.
"It would be just as big an achievement as winning the cup because of where we've been the past four or five years.
"But we're under no illusions as we have Dundee United, Motherwell and Inverness to play shortly and it is going to be an interesting end to the season.
"We're second on merit and it's up to us to stay there, but there are so many difficult games coming up. We have to go out and play in the right manner if we're to stay there."
