ABERDEEN boss Jimmy Calderwood believes the Dons must win the Scottish Cup to make up for last season's semi-final humiliation.
The Dons battled through the fourth round tie with Alloa on Saturday, winning 2-1 in treacherous conditions on an unfamiliar surface.
And the Reds' reward for the win is a home tie against Second Division East Fife in the fifth round.
But Jimmy believes his team must go all the way to exorcise the demons of the Queen of the South defeat last term.
He said: "We have to get to the cup final and win it before we make up for last season's defeat to Queen of the South in the semis.
"Beating Alloa is not enough, although hopefully it is the first step on the way to the final.
"Only then will we lay that ghost to rest."
Caldo also emphasised that the result was all that counted on Saturday, especially considering the conditions.
He said: "It was difficult, but we are in the next round and that is all that matters."
