DONS boss Craig Brown is hoping to recruit at least one midfielder before the end of the week as he bids to bolster his squad this month and continue the club's positive transformation in fortunes.
The Dons boss has already targeted Blackburn striker Nick Blackman on a loan deal, after bringing the player to Motherwell in the first half of the season, but he could face competition from his former club who are also keen to see the player return to Fir Park.
However, with Yoann Folly ruled out for the rest of the season with a broken ankle, Brown admits strengthening the midfield position must be top of his list as he seeks the addition of two new players for the position.
He told RedTV: "The midfield is critical. It's been well-publicised that we are trying to get a striker, Nick Blackman, on loan and we are very optimistic about that.
"A bigger priority right now is the midfield. We hope, before the end of the week, to make a signing of a midfield player plus a loan as well. Ideally, we would like two new midfield players.
"I've emphasised to the guys here that that's not a reflection on them; it's a necessity for this football club. We're well down the road towards getting a new one and hopefully an additional one."
