Pressure continues to mount on Brown following a ninth home blank against Motherwell last weekend leaves Aberdeen struggling to make the top six for a fourth successive year since Jimmy Calderwood was sacked.
The Dons have won just twice in their last 11 SPL games - both against relegation certainties Dundee - and feebly limped out of the cup to Hibs.
But Brown believes that despite this appalling run of form, the team is playing well.
He said: "It would depress you if we were not playing well, but we're playing exceptionally well, and we're not conceding goals.
"We've lost our player of the year with a broken leg," he added, "we've lost a sparkling attacker for a transfer fee to Bournemouth.
"We've had horrendous injuries, I don't think other teams have suffered as much as we have.
"I don't think looking at Aberdeen you can say the team is a failure."
